Feb 22nd 2010 I just postsed 3 new paintings, that as of today, are still availiable http://www.riki-arts.com/allaprimaimages.html - I am surprised by how many pieces have sold this month, both studio works and plein air / alla prima - Feb is traditionally a slow month for art, hence the surprise. I will be back painting in the gallery the 1st weekend in March, the 6 and 7th I think, but I love the new the paintings I just did - modest eh? but its true. Drop by the gallery to see the new paintings.

On a different note, I have just started a NEW MAJOR BAR SCENE of Steamers Grill House in Los Gatos, it is a 24 x 36 and I expect it to take at least 6 weeks to complete, it is based on a photo I did there on Halloween.

Dec 2009 There are many new small Christmas paintings to be seen! http://www.riki-arts.com/allaprimaimages.html . A new theme for the season, is a series of small Santa and ornament still lifes, from $125 to $350. All are unique, one of kind pieces.

Halloween Saturday Oct 31th Artist Riki R Nelson, has been invited to do a candid photo shoot for material for her new series of bar scene oil paintings. The first shoot, will be at the posh Costume Ball at Steamers Grill House in Los Gatos, - from about 8:30 to 9:30. Then, from 10:30 till ? she will be at the historic Number One Broadway bar also in Los Gatos, again taking photos as material for a new series of work.

Saturday Oct 24th *I will be painting at Peabody Gallery Los Gatos one day only this week, ( Sat Oct 24th 10 to 5 ) painting a one day still life. I will be back in the gallery again on Halloween.

What happened Saturday Oct 17th Sunday Oct 18th & Mon Oct 19th: Finished my Painting of Pumpkins w candy corn, chocolate truffle and candy sticks The piece is entitled, "...It's the Great Pumpkin!" Gallery Director Ruth Dailey did a beautiful job of rehanging the front of the gallery today as she also decorated for Halloween.

During the week, I painted, in my studio, a still life with a skull, and a pumpkin. The Painting is titled "Halloween Gothic" and is currently on exhibit at Peabody Gallery.

Saturday Oct 24th and Sunday Oct 25th schedule change; I will be in the gallery as usual on Sat the 24th, painting, until 5 pm. Then my work will be down for several days to make room for a Mackenzie Thorpe trunk show (visit Peabodygallery.com for details of this event) I will not be in the gallery on Sun, but my exhibit will be back by Tuesday, and I will be back and painting on Halloween day, then that evening, you can look for me, and my brother, "Mr. Spock", at Steamers Grill and Number One Broadway Los Gatos, for the photo shoots I will be doing to gather material for the new series of bar scenes I am developing.

On Oct 10th, the Artist did a retro style"Table Story" Painting In the gallery. A of a pair of women's pink high heel strappy shoes, a lipstick, a turquoise vase with a single pink, rose, and paintings that were hanging in the gallery, in the background. The palette is mauve pink, and grayish turquoise. It is currently on display at the Peabody Gallery Los Gatos, and will be on the website soon

Yesterday, Oct 7th, the artist went on site to Aptos Beach at Rio Del mar, and did 2 plein air paintings. One was done early on a clear bright morning, the other was done as the fog rolled in the late afternoon, they will exhibit this Sat Oct 10th.

Painting Update for Sat and Sun Oct 3rd and 4th - There is a new 12 x 16 Wine Painting in the Gallery, it has a french theme - red grapes, brie cheese with the french flag on the label, my favorite giant art glass wine goblet, french wine, a Limoges china plate and silver knife, and even some art that was hainging on the wall in the background, this is the most complex piece the artist has done in the gallery thus far

Yesterday, Sept 30th, the artist again painted a new perspective on the mountain, ocean vista view, an 11 x 14 oil entitled "Ocean Vista, from Forest Meadow" it wil make it's gallery debut this coming weekend. You can really sense the change of season in these two new landscape paintings.

On Sept 29th, the artist painted a 9 x 12 oil alla plein air - out of doors - an ocean view sunset from the Mtns. & Redwoods, the piece will preview in the gallery this coming Saturday, Oct 3rd. Last Saturday, Sept. 26th, the artist painted a 12 x 16 oil of large pumpkins and candy, with an oil painting on the gallery wall, painted into the background - Sept 19th the artist painted a popular bottle of chardonnay and a large decorative wine glass, and for the first time, put paintings on the gallery wall in the background - the week before, she painted a bottle of fine French pinot, with a full glass, and grapes on a Limoges china plate. This same week, she also went on site to paint a rare plein air harbor scene off fisherman's wharf in Monterey.

The week before that, she painted chocolate truffles and a candy cupcake w/ Limoges China cup and saucer, and the week before that, Donuts on a Limoges China plate, the week before that, a chocolate cake with white frosting, the first two weeks the artist painted fine pottery.

This Coming Saturday Oct 3rd: The artists favorite still life subject, is what she calls, "table stories"; glasses of wine, w elements that would go with a special moment to be celebrated.

Since all of wine paintings sold as soon as they were available, the artist will be creating a NEW wine "table story" this weekend so drop by to see the progress, or purchase the piece as it is painted.

Also this Saturday, we will be serving wine from one of several wonderful local wineries.

These weekend events will include a champagne or wine pouring, new oil paintings each week, a gallery wide fine art sale, and other surprises.

Subjects include; seascapes, & landscapes, cakes and pastries, pottery, flowers, portraits, and more.
