About the creation of "Magical Main Street": Like all of the paintings I have done that depict scenes, this piece is based on an actual place and occurrence. It is from a photo shoot a did of of Main Street in my home town of Los Gatos California.

As an artist, I have my own vision, that is separate from the actual photo, the intangible elements that defy words, but can only be expressed - hopefully- with imagery. In these paintings however, of Los Gatos, I have painting what was there, in an impressionistic expressionistic style, but these pieces are also, a piece of history, so I don't "play" with the subject, I have generally painted what was in the photos.

I wanted to convey the feeling of being able to walk into the bars, shops and restaurants, on a magical evening.

I wanted this painting to be much more then the sum of it's parts, and to have a haunting quality.

In this painting I used classical painting techniques, this piece was completed over several months.
