go back from whence you came

---------------

Quiet Mind:

This one takes some level of focus, but if you are spinning into space, this will help cut the jabber in your head:

If possible, eliminate all distractions

The most effective posture for this is to sit with a straight spine (laying down is O.K too) and make sure you are comfy.

now
take a deep breath exhale, breath medium-deep and slow,

now,
look at a candle flame,
or, choose an object, like a rock, or shell,
(preferably something you do NOT have strong attachments to,
as it can interfere with the process)
and think of nothing.

What I mean by nothing is
forget that you have words
for "flame" "hot" or "pretty" or "rock",
Pretend you're from Mars,
and you've never seen a rock or flame before,
so you have no words or preconceptions about the object,
you simply know, that it "is".

now look at the flame, (or rock)

thinking as if you have never seen or heard of fire or rocks before, keeping all words and thoughts out of your head, simply look, and see...

listen to your breath, focus on your breath, and the flickering nameless phenomina before you.

you may only be able to this for seconds at a time,

but you will notice after doing this regularly for maybe 15 minutes at time,

that the chatter in your head will begin to be a little more controlable,

..takes practice

..worth the effort.
