Getting Grounded
If you feel out of control, or uncentered, try this...

I can do this posture and meditation combination
for as little a minute,
and still get a rush from it.
Begin by standing in Tadasana,
or, if that term just sounds like middle eastern food to you,
do this instead...
Stand with your feet about 4 inches apart,
(you can do this exercise sitting,
but it may not be as effective)
and your rear-end slightly tucked,
put your hands in a "praying position"
about solar plexus height,
The Exercise:
Put your weight back slightly on your heels,
(if you are sitting, press your heels gently into the floor instead)
if you will feel like you want to fall over backwards,
just play with it, until you're comfortable,
- this gets easy really fast if you do it everyday -
then if you can, close your eyes.
The Meditation:
Imagine your heals are actually connected to the earth,
imagine that you have a direct pipeline,
coming from your heels
that goes deep, deep, down into warm earth,
tapping into the living spirit
of the molten core
of the living planet,
feel the comforting sense of strength, stability and security
coming up into your body thorough your heels,
you feel solid, and grounded, and whole.
Embrace the feelings and the energy,
breath into them,
they are yours now,
take them with you into your day.
If you are successful with this meditation,
you may wish to direct the energy
into a particular part of your body
that is not feeling as strong
as you would like,
breath into the area,
and imagine the energy flowing there.
